Sharapova sends qualifier packing after scare | Reuters.com

"For a little over an hour on Saturday Alla Kudryavtseva shared the Centre Court limelight at Roland Garros with a rather more celebrated Russian in Maria Sharapova.

She even gave the 20-year-old world number two a few problems before succumbing 6-1 6-4 in the third round. The moment they walked off the court, however, the players returned to their very different tennis universes.

Sharapova, providing her sore shoulder holds up, will focus on trying to win her third grand slam title, while 19-year-old Kudryavtseva returns to the hard graft of the second-tier ITF circuit in a bid to establish herself in the top 100."
